In the US, the current wave of the right-wing, ultra conservative movement we are seeing has been long in the making. In 1971 Lewis Powell laid out the blueprint to galvanize the power of the already privileged. The end goal was to prevent the masses from using democracy to have a more equitable system where all paid their fair share of taxes, polluters had to change their way or face the consequences and all citizens had an equal voice in our government's policies. Those financing the multitude of dark money organizations that pollute our political system are trying to drowned our democracy to preserve their own privilege.
